A Dianping (大众点评) group buy is a deal the customer pays for in the app in advance, as a set meal or a cash voucher, then shows as a code or QR code at your store. You redeem it and the platform settles the payment. Deals go live on Dianping and Meituan (美团), and you never handle RMB.

Deals are how Dianping checks and completes a merchant's details and gets genuine reviews. Tao Xuexuan, Meituan vice president and general manager of the Dianping business unit, told 36Kr that transactions have never been a KPI for Dianping.
When a merchant lists deals, the platform verifies its name, address, phone number and opening hours, asks for its menu, and helps add recommended dishes and in-store photos. Deals also help visibility: platform data shows merchants with group-buy deals get 30% more impressions on average.
