Dianping is the app Chinese consumers use to find places, read reviews and buy deals, at home and when they travel. Its overseas business is aimed mainly at Chinese outbound travellers36Kr, 1 Sep 2026, and its overseas sites cover 3,000+ cities and draw 110M+ visits a yearChina Business Journal, 2026-09-01, quoting Li Tianlei, head of Dianping overseas. Meituan (美团) is its parent company, and verified merchants are also cross-listed on Meituan: one setup, two platforms.

More of them review what they do, too. In the 2026 Must-Visit List selection period, reviews of overseas things to do on Dianping rose 57% year on year, and the number of users writing them rose 50%Southern Metropolis Daily, 2026-08-31; in 2025, users searched for things to do on Dianping 62 million timesBeijing News, 2026-09-01.

02 - Pay · tickets

How do Chinese visitors pay, and what do ticket deals do for an attraction?

Chinese visitors pay in the Dianping and Meituan apps, and deal redemptions are settled by the platform, so you do not handle RMB yourself.

A group-buy deal is an experience package, a voucher or a dated or timed ticket that visitors buy before they arrive. Dianping itself treats overseas deals mainly as a way to verify merchant details and draw genuine reviews, not as a sales target36Kr, 1 Sep 2026. So a deal gives visitors a reason to buy, come and review; it is not a sales promise. Platform data shows merchants with group-buy deals get 30% more impressions on average.

03 - Must-Visit List

How does an attraction get onto the Dianping Must-Visit List?

Visitors decide it. Dianping selects the Must-Visit List (必玩榜) only from genuine user reviews and takes no nominations or commercial deals, so a place cannot be bought, and no agency, including us, can promise you one.

The list held its overseas awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on 26 August 2026. The overseas list covers 33 cities and regions and 474 venues, across classic attractions, bars, cafes, performances, markets and specialty experiences. Malaysia has 30 listed venues in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu, among them an eco park on Penang Hill. Dianping data shows traffic to the listed Malaysian venues rose 109% after publicationSouthern Metropolis Daily and Shenzhen News, 31 Aug 2026.

What we can do is get the basics right: accurate Chinese descriptions, honest photos and careful replies to reviews, so the Chinese visitors who come are willing to write about it. The list itself is the visitors' call.

05 - FAQ

What attraction operators ask most

Can my attraction list on Dianping without Mandarin, a Chinese phone number or a China company?

Yes, none of the three is a barrier. You talk to us in English or BM, and we write the Chinese description and run the platform side; a Malaysian +60 number works, and you need no China company or Chinese bank account. What you prepare is SSM registration, the owner's NRIC or passport, venue details, real photos and your list of experiences, plus any other verification documents Dianping asks for. Listings typically go live 2-4 weeks later.

Can we sell attraction tickets on Dianping or Meituan?

Yes. An attraction can list dated or timed tickets, experience packages or vouchers as group-buy deals. Visitors pay in the Dianping or Meituan app before they arrive, and the platform settles once the ticket is redeemed. Each new deal goes through platform review, usually 3-5 days. Group-buy setup is part of the Full Package.

Can an attraction pay to get onto the Must-Visit List?

No. Dianping says the Must-Visit List is selected only from genuine user reviews, with no nominations and no commercial deals, so no agency, including us, can promise you a place. What we can do is get your Chinese descriptions, real photos and review replies right, so the Chinese visitors who come are willing to write a genuine review. The visitors decide the rest.

Do Chinese visitors really use Dianping to choose attractions?

Yes. Users searched for things to do on Dianping 62 million times in 2025, and in the 2026 Must-Visit List selection period, reviews of overseas things to do rose 57% year on year. One listed zipline operator in Chiang Mai said over 80% of its Chinese enquiries came after reading Dianping reviews. That is one operator in Thailand, but it shows how much reviews weigh.

How long does it take to list an attraction on Dianping, and what does it cost?

Dianping's verification review takes about 3-5 working days, and listings typically go live 2-4 weeks after your venue details, photos, list of experiences and documents are in. Attraction traffic follows Chinese holidays, so start early for a peak. Pricing is an annual package with a 1-year minimum; attractions selling tickets or experiences look at the Full Package, which adds group buy. A quote follows the free consultation.

Can a tour agency or day-tour operator list on Dianping?

Yes. Tour agencies that sell attraction tickets can list, and so can day-tour, island and diving operators, alongside theme parks, museums and eco parks. Tickets, experience packages or vouchers can go on sale as group-buy deals. Each business is still subject to the platform's review; in the free consultation we confirm the right category and what you need to prepare.
